Assistant
Professor of German Studies, Jeffrey Schneider arrived at Vassar College
in Fall 1997. His teaching interests include language courses; drama;
literature and culture from the turn of the century; popular culture;
and lesbian, bisexual and gay studies. Together with Silke von der
Emde, he has developed an on-line, German-language MOO (Multi-User
DimensionObject Oriented) called MOOssiggang, which has been
used in several courses at Vassar. In addition to articles on the
MOOs, he is currently writing a book-length study and related articles
on militarism, masculinity and male sexuality in Imperial Germany.
Jeffrey Schneider received his Ph.D in German Studies from Cornell
University and his BA from Bates College.
