Trips

In addition to a study abroad requirement, that students fulfill on their own, the International Studies program arranges annual study trips for majors and the broader college community. In conjunction with a special preparatory course, these trips to stimulating foreign locales—usually made during spring break in March—provide students with an intense program of site visits and interaction with local students, academics, politicians and leaders of NGOs.

In 2001, Professors Tim Longman (Political Science), Ismael Rashid (History) and Lisa Collins (Art) took a group of thirty students to Kenya. In previous years, destinations included Russia, Indonesia, Vietnam (pictured at left), Israel, Cuba and India. Online photo albums from these trips are coming soon!
