Shiv Ruparell

International Studies Intern

Hello! My name is Shiv Ruparell, and I’m excited to be one of the IS interns for 2018/19! I’m a proud Canadian from Calgary, Alberta, and have also lived in London, Washington D.C., and Paris. I spent my first year at Vassar in rustic Raymond, and sophomore year as a Student Fellow in majestic Main. I had an incredible JYA experience in France, spending one semester at the Vassar-Wesleyan Program in Paris (VWPP) and another on exchange at the Institut d’études Politiques de Paris (Sciences Po Paris).

In addition to International Studies, I have a double-major with French & Francophone Studies and a Correlate Sequence in International Economics. Within IS, my concentrations are Economics and Political Science, and my specific academic interests include development economics and econometrics, macroeconomics, trade, and European geopolitics. These interests stem from a range of fantastic Vassar professors and classes as well as summer internships. My professional experience includes work in diplomacy/government (Canada’s U.S. Embassy), Canadian and European politics, finance, energy, and a macroeconomic and geopolitical consulting firm. Outside of the classroom, my time at Vassar has included Model UN, the varsity squash team, VISA (Vassar International Students Association), RSL, SASA, VSA, and many late nights at the library. In my free time, I love to hike, run, cook, and ski.

If you want to chat about majoring/declaring in IS, or any of the above (or something else entirely), please feel free to shoot me an email (shruparell@vassar.edu) or drop by my office hours on Wednesdays from 12-1 and 3-5 in OLB 312.
